Responsibilities

• Provide technical advice to the Director on Clinical Competency evaluations of Pharmacists Category.
• Review and modify the evaluation checklist and tools for pharmacy job category.
• Plan, develop, analyze, and interpret clinical competency evaluations and present data.
• Lead discussions on development of competency checklists and PDPs with timelines.
• Participate in competency evaluations and provide feedback for process improvement.
• Lead PDCA quality improvement activities to enhance evaluation processes.
• Identify and report patient safety concerns related to competency evaluations.

Job description

The incumbent will act as subject matter expert for the Pharmacists Clinical Competency project in Clinical Effectiveness Department and maintain high quality of outcomes and compliance to the processes.

Key Accountabilities & Duties:

• Provide technical advice to the Director on Clinical Competency evaluations of Pharmacists Category
• Review/ modify the evaluation checklist and tools to best suit to the pharmacy job category at PHCC, in line with the scope of practice.
• Plan, develop, analyze, and interpret clinical competency evaluations and present data to the Director of Clinical Effectiveness and to the Clinical Competency Committee (CCC).
• Review the evaluation outcomes and provide feedback to the Director of Clinical Effectiveness and Clinical competency Team
• Assist the Department Director and Project Manager in planning of evaluations, preparing the tools, selection of evaluators and drafting relevant reports.
• Lead the discussions on development/review of clinical competency checklists,planning competency based professional development plans, monitoring training, and developing status reports ensuring the compliance to the timelines.
• Participate in Competency evaluations of Pharmacists and provide feedback to the Director on improving the process.
• Plan, develop, analyze, and interpret clinical competency evaluations of Pharmacists and present data to the Director of Clinical Effectiveness and to the Clinical Competency Committee (CCC).
• Assists clinical effectiveness director to develop action plans and address identified opportunities for improvement to meet and maintain the applicable standards (AC, DHP, or any corporate or National standards/requirements.
• Lead Quality Improvement activities (PDCA) to continuously improve the processes of clinical competency evaluations and report to the department director.
• Make professional judgments with administrative supervision, maintains professional growth by attendance at various department, institutional, and external meetings, seminars, and workshops.
• Apply knowledge/expertise in standards and relevant processes to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Show ongoing acquisition of knowledge and awareness of ongoing learning needs in clinical competency evaluations and development
• Use verbal and written communication skills to establish and maintain effective relationships, facilitate multi-disciplinary team.
• Demonstrate competence in Effective Communication and Interpersonal Skills, gathering and sharing of essential information for effective decision making.
• Establish professional / collegial relationship with pharmacists at large and department team members.
• Demonstrate proactive approach to the competency related issues in all undertakings and take necessary measures to address them.
• Identify and report on Pharmacists who need Improvement and plan their Competency based PDP /trainings in a timely manner.
• Monitor the progress of competency building trainings
• Demonstrate ability of teamwork and effective communication.
• Ensure the competency evaluations are conducted in an effective manner to identify the gaps in competence
• Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by thinking what might go wrong in all your undertakings and take necessary measures to prevent them from happening.
• Identify and report potential or actual patient safety concerns, errors and/or near misses in timely manner.
• Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols.
• Demonstrate as sense of teamwork and effective communication.
• Partner with line manager to understand risks in your area of work, develop a plan on how to mitigate those risks, and develop shared accountability for implementing and evaluating the plan.

Education Requirements: Postgraduate Degree in Clinical Pharmacy (Doctor of Clinical Pharmacy or PhD in Clinical Pharmacy)

Certification, license, or training Requirements: Certificate of training as an Assessor of Pharmacists or equivalent. DHP license as Clinical Pharmacist

Experience & Knowledge: Minimum 7 years of experience in a role with similar responsibilities in a reputed health care organization accredited by JCIA, or Accreditation Canada or ACGME / and any National accreditation).
