Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking an experienced Assistant Resident Engineer, STW and TPS to support the supervision and delivery of major water infrastructure works. You will help oversee construction activities, monitor progress, inspect proposals, and ensure compliance with PPPA requirements, quality, health, safety and welfare.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
• At least 12 years of post-graduate experience in supervision of comparable construction works.
• At least seven years on works relating to pump stations and large STWs with heavy water-retaining structures.
• Experience evaluating technical proposals, constructability assessments and deployment of technology.
• Strong monitoring and inspection experience incl. materials, workmanship, progress and compliance.
• Fluent in English with strong technical writing and Gulf-region experience.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Resident Engineer, STW and TPS to support the supervision and delivery of major water infrastructure works. You will help oversee construction activities associated with large STWs, pump stations and water-retaining structures, ensuring that work is delivered in accordance with the applicable PPPA requirements, approved programme and required standards of quality, health, safety and welfare. Working closely with the Engineer and project stakeholders, you will monitor progress, inspect construction activities, evaluate technical proposals and help resolve technical and constructability issues. This is an opportunity to apply your site supervision and technical expertise to complex infrastructure while supporting safe, compliant and effective project delivery.

Key responsibilities and duties are listed, but not limited to, the below

• Supervise construction works associated with large STWs, pump stations and water-retaining structures.
• Evaluate technical proposals, including their constructability and proposed technology deployment.
• Support the resolution of technical issues that arise during construction.
• Monitor construction progress against the submitted Work Breakdown Structure, Cost Breakdown Structure and Resources Breakdown Structure.
• Inspect construction activities to verify that materials and workmanship conform to PPPA requirements.
• Monitor compliance with applicable health, safety and welfare requirements.
• Advise the Engineer where there is persistent non-compliance with PPPA timelines or an unsatisfactory rate of progress.
• Carry out periodic site inspections and identify defects or deviations from PPPA requirements.
• Assist with the preparation of conformance reports covering identified defects and deviations.
• Manage multiple work areas proactively and maintain clear oral and written communication with relevant stakeholders.
• Support continuous improvement and digital ways of working, sharing knowledge and lessons learned.

Candidate specification

Essential

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
• At least 12 years of post-graduate experience across the supervision of comparable construction works.
• At least seven years of experience on works relating to similar pump stations and large STWs involving heavy water-retaining structures.
• Demonstrable experience managing similar works, including larger STW, pump station or water-retaining structure projects.
• Experience evaluating technical proposals, assessing constructability, supporting technology deployment and resolving problems during construction.
• Strong construction monitoring and inspection experience, including the assessment of materials, workmanship, progress and compliance.
• Experience covering health, safety and welfare requirements on construction projects of a similar nature.
• Fluency in written and spoken English, with strong technical writing and communication skills, together with previous experience working in the Gulf region.

Desirable

• A recognised professional qualification.
• Experience monitoring delivery through Work Breakdown, Cost Breakdown and Resources Breakdown Structures.
• Experience preparing conformance reports relating to defects, deviations and contractual requirements.
• A proactive approach and the ability to coordinate multiple work areas on site
