Job summary

Bechtel in Poland is hiring a Workface Planner to support the AP1000 nuclear project with Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ). You will plan field activities, prepare detailed IWPs, and coordinate across engineering, procurement and construction to ensure seamless field execution.

The role requires 5–8 years of relevant experience, strong drawing interpretation, and proactive coordination across teams. This is a full-time onsite position with competitive Poland-based rewards.

  • Must be physically able to conduct field inspections and participate in project walk-downs.

Responsibilities

  • Plan execution of field work and develop IWPs.
  • Provide input to 90-day and 3-week lookahead by Installation Work Package (IWP).
  • Ensure the accuracy of Level 4 and 5 schedules for all commodities.
  • Perform 4D planning and model construction sequence.
  • Coordinate ensuring IWPs are constraint-free for field use.
  • Identify constraints and update constraint lists.
  • Coordinate IWP scope adjustments with construction, testing and startup.
  • Prepare Installation Work Packages with drawings, schematics, vendor drawings and IWP documents.
  • Support field engineering in closing IWP documentation issues.
  • Develop and maintain metrics/dashboards for Workface Planning performance.
  • Train work package planning staff and project personnel in AWP.

Project Overview

Bechtel and Westinghouse Electric Company have partnered to deliver the first AP1000 nuclear power reactors in Poland for our customer, the Polish Entity Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ). Bechtel will be the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor for the project. As the EPC, our responsibilities will include providing the design for the Turbine Island and Balance of Plant as well as the construction of the entire facility. This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity, and we are looking for the talent that will help expand Poland’s nuclear base and build a strong and long-lasting energy future for generations to come. This position is subject to U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) regulations at 10 CFR Part 810 (Part 810), which govern the transfer of hardware, materials, and technology to support the construction and operation of commercial nuclear power plants overseas.

Job Summary

Working within the Construction function and reporting to the Workface Planning Manager (WFPM), the Workface Planner (WFP) is responsible for supporting and providing input to the project’s Workface Planning (WFP) Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) program. Primary responsibilities include planning execution of field work, providing detailed construction input during engineering and procurement, scoping and managing work packages, constraint removal, supporting turnover to startup and constant coordination across the project’s EPC functions to ensure alignment to the field execution strategy.

Major Responsibilities
  • Workface Planning.
  • Input to the 90-day and 3-week lookahead by Installation Work Package (IWP).
  • Ensuring the accuracy of the Level 4 and 5 Schedules for all commodities.
  • 4D planning and modelling the construction installation sequence.
  • Ensuring constraint-free IWPs are made available to the field:
  • Identify constraints associated with work packages and update constraint list.
  • Coordinating IWP scope adjustment activities to align IWPs to construction execution plan, testing, and startup.
  • Validating the sequence of IWP development to ensure it aligns with the field execution strategy.
  • Tracking readiness and providing visibility to constraints at pre-construction intervals of 150-days, 90-days, and 3-weeks as well as driving removal of constraints via cross-functional communication and coordination.
  • Along with Field Engineering, prepare detailed Installation Work Package (IWPs) as per the project guidelines and procedures, which includes, compiling layout drawings, standard installation drawings, schematics, vendor drawings, installation details, model snapshots, vendor drawings, inspection test records, or any other documents or Engineering deliverables associated with the IWP scope of work.
  • Supporting field engineering in closing IWP documentation issues.
  • Support the development and maintenance of metrics and dashboards for monitoring the performance of the Workface Planning program and its effectiveness toward improving construction productivity.
  • Assists in training the work package planning staff, as well as training in AWP for all Project staff.
  • Be a strong advocate of AWP Program implementation.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills
  • Working experience at jobsite as a Field Engineer or Construction Engineer.
  • Experience of preparation of Construction work packages.
  • Proficient in reading drawings, interpreting designs, construction schedule, specifications and industry standards and codes.
  • Excellent communications skills.
  • Flexible and willing to support all disciplines on all deliverables.
  • Ability to help teams define strategic direction for the purpose of developing practical action plans.
  • Ability to think outside the box to help resolve challenges and roadblocks as they arise.
  • Must be physically able to conduct field inspections and participate in project walk-downs which may require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, using fall protection and other personal protective equipment (PPE), walking on elevated platforms, walking on uneven surfaces, and manoeuvring around very small and/or confined spaces.
Preferred Knowledge and Skills
  • Strong understanding of Bechtel construction practices, process improvement methodologies, and innovative trends within the construction industry. Previous experience in Engineering, Construction, or Project Controls is beneficial.
  • Working knowledge of developing unit rate and performance factors.
  • Strong knowledge of BSAPs and standard programs used on Bechtel EPC projects such as TeamWorks, InfoWorks, Digital Supply Chain, Synchro 4D, EQMS, Toolhound, xFighters, Bookbuilder, ModelBuilder etc.
