Woonsocket Education Department Woonsocket High School - Woonsocket, Rhode Island is seeking an assistant coach for the girls basketball program. The role supports the Head Coach by teaching fundamentals, strategy, and conditioning to help players reach team and individual goals.

The position requires coaching experience and a valid teaching certificate; CPR/First Aid credentials are expected. This is a after school/evening role with responsibilities including scheduling, travel, and player

Formación

• Teaching certificate preferred.
• Coaching experience in the assigned sport is desirable.
• Knowledge/background in the assigned sport.
• Proof of competency in first aid.
• CPR certificate or completion of CPR class.

Responsabilidades

• Assist the head coach in scheduling and transporting to tournaments and events.
• Prepare for scheduled practices and adhere to facilities schedules.
• Provide documentation to the Athletic Director for examinations, consent and eligibility.
• Safeguard equipment and sites.
• Communicate training rules and sport regulations to participants.
• Be present at practices, games, and travel to support participants.
• Direct student managers and statisticians.
• Work with parents if a student becomes ineligible.

Job Description

Function: To carry out the aims and objectives of the sports program as outlined by the Head Coach. To instruct athletes in individual and team fundamentals, strategy, and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Assists the head coach in scheduling and providing transportation to tournaments and special events.
• I'd like to point out the necessary preparation to hold scheduled sports events or practices and adhere to scheduled facilities.
• Provides documentation to the Athletic Director to fulfill state and system requirements concerning physical examinations, parental consent, and eligibility.
• Provides proper safeguards for maintenance and protection of assigned equipment and sites.
• Provides training rules and any other unique regulations of the sport to each athlete who is considered a participant.
• His/her presence at all practices, games, and while traveling provides assistance and guidance to and safeguards for each participant.
• Directs student managers and statisticians.
• Determines discipline delineates procedures concerning due process when the enforcement of discipline is necessary. Contacts parents when a student is dropped or becomes ineligible.

Qualifications

• Teaching certificate and experience preferred.
• Previous coaching experience in assigned sports is desirable.
• Has knowledge and background in the assigned sport.
• Has taken a course workshop or has proof of competency in first aid.
• Has a certificate or completion of a class in CPR.
