Vertex Agility is seeking a Technical Delivery Lead to own delivery in a Google Cloud-based, open-source oriented stack. The role blends leadership with hands-on engineering across Java, Python, Node.js, and React, championing security integrated in the CI/CD pipeline and infrastructure-as-code practices.

You will guide a multi-disciplinary team, manage dependencies, and ensure timely delivery while maintaining platform stability.

Qualifications

• At least 10 years building software with hands-on coding in two or more languages.
• Working knowledge of Google Cloud and container workloads.
• Proven track record leading mixed engineering teams in Scrum or Kanban.
• Security embedded in delivery, secret management and code-based controls.
• Comfort with infrastructure-as-code, especially Terraform.

Responsibilities

Job Opportunity: Technical Delivery Lead (GCP / DevSecOps)

Location: Krakow, hybrid model (6 office days per month)

Role Overview

We are looking for a Technical Delivery Lead to own delivery in a team modernising a set of business-critical services. The programme moves away from costly, vendor-locked platforms towards an open-source ecosystem built on Google Cloud, in a deliberately polyglot environment covering Java, Python, Node.js and React.

The value of this role sits in the glue between those services: predictable delivery, security automated inside the pipeline rather than added at the end, and a PostgreSQL layer that scales. It is a leadership position for an engineer who leads without stepping away from the technology.

Responsibilities:

• Own delivery from concept to production, surfacing architectural risk and technical debt early instead of reporting on it once it has already cost a sprint.
• Keep compliance and security controls automated inside the pipeline, and hold a clear, defensible definition of done.
• Run the daily rhythm: sprint health, technical unblocking, and stand-ups that carry actual signal.
• Hold the line between shipping quickly and keeping the platform stable, and absorb the pressure so the team does not have to.
• Stay keyboard-ready: deep code reviews, debugging Terraform, and getting your hands into a live production issue when one lands.
• Guide the shift away from proprietary tooling by helping the team choose the open-source replacements worth betting on.
• Track dependencies against neighbouring initiatives and keep the stakeholders around them aligned.
• Use DORA metrics to show where the squad is genuinely improving and where it has stalled.

Requirements:

• At least 10 years building software, with recent hands-on coding in two or more of: Java, Python, Node.js, Go.
• Working knowledge of Google Cloud: container workloads on GKE, services on Cloud Run, managed PostgreSQL on Cloud SQL, and access control through Identity-Aware Proxy.
• A track record of leading mixed engineering teams, frontend, backend and SRE together, in Scrum or Kanban.
• Security embedded in delivery in practice, not in theory: secret and key management, container hardening, controls expressed as code.
• Comfort with infrastructure-as-code, Terraform in particular, to the point of being able to debug someone else’s.
• Confidence with stakeholders: mapping cross-initiative dependencies and keeping the right people informed and aligned.
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL under real load and with open-source alternatives to commercial platforms.
