Job description

Muiríosa Foundation supports individuals (and their families) with an intellectual disability and/or autism to live self-directed, connected, and fulfilling lives. Currently, we employ over 1,400 staff and support people in Laois, Offaly, Westmeath, Meath, Longford, Kildare, Tipperary, and Kilkenny. We provide supports through the Regional structure and the Person Centred Wing. Each region exercises a high level of devolved autonomy across all major operational functions, including residential homes.

Relief Contracts

We are offering opportunities for Support Workers to join our organisation, working with and supporting individuals in their communities within Kildare Services.

Successful candidates will join the relief panel to support the daily running of community houses for adults with intellectual disabilities. Duties include assisting people with activities of daily living and engaging in their community. The role involves various shift patterns, including sleepover shifts, days, nights, and weekends, providing a varied roster that can accommodate personal commitments.

If you are a Support Worker with the ability to connect with people and a passion for supporting individuals to live meaningful lifestyles, this could be an ideal opportunity for you.

Requirements:

  • A valid driving licence to drive a manual vehicle in Ireland
  • Experience supporting adults with intellectual disabilities and/or autism is highly desirable
  • Excellent organisational, logistical, and IT skills
  • Suitability as outlined in the introduction to the role
  • Ability to use own initiative and plan effectively
  • Knowledge and understanding of HIQA standards and statutory requirements
  • Good connections in the local community are advantageous

Successful candidates must be available for any day, weekend, waking night duty, and sleep-over shifts. Staff must also be willing to work alone in residents’ homes and across various locations.
