We are looking for a technically sound, knowledgeable, safety- and quality-minded, dynamic, flexible, detail-oriented high performer and team player to join our highly motivated and efficient Services Team as a Field Service Superintendent Engineer.

You will be part of a highly skilled and motivated team of Field Services professionals who are able to work independently and make decisions under pressure, combining analytical and critical thinking with excellent knowledge of 2-stroke engines. The location for this position is Gdansk, Poland.

Your role and responsibilities

As a Superintendent Mechanical 2-Stroke, your work will include performing field service activities according to the work plan, carrying out advanced mechanical, electronic, automation, and system integration-related troubleshooting on two-stroke engines and ancillary equipment, providing technical advice on repair activities carried out by customers, and commissioning service products.

Your main responsibilities
  • Conducting overhauls of engine components on site and on board, including some in situ machining according to the work plan.
  • Performing advanced mechanical, electronic, automation and system integration-related fault finding and troubleshooting on 2-stroke engines and ancillary equipment.
  • Performing mechanical commissioning and verification of work done.
  • Providing technical advice for repair activities carried out by customers.
  • Lead and manage the assigned team and supervise related activities on site during FS work execution.
  • Interact with customers and the FS and TS back offices during work.
  • Provide internal and external progress updates on the assigned work.
  • Prepare service work reports and travel expense reports on time and to the expected Wärtsilä quality standard.
  • Proactively consult, advise and promote Wärtsilä solutions and products to customers.
To be successful in this role, you will need
  • A BSc degree and/or proven experience in Field Services working with engines (experience with Wärtsilä engines is beneficial).
  • Solid knowledge about 2-stroke engines and their auxiliary equipment.
  • Awareness and experience with electrical troubleshooting.
  • Experience in leading and/or managing the assigned team of colleagues/subcontractors for related activities on site during work execution.
  • Good command of English and Polish, verbally and in writing.
  • Fluent reporting skills for preparing final work reports and daily reports, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to interact smoothly with customers, other involved representatives, and internal stakeholders before, during, and after Field Services work execution.
  • Willingness to travel world-wide.
  • Valid driving licence.
