Job summary

VEDA Associates, Kraków, Poland, is seeking a Structural Engineer to join our bridges and infrastructure team. You will work on calculations, design, assessments, and temporary works alongside experienced colleagues in Poland and the UK, developing solutions from first principles.

Hybrid working from our Kraków office is available, with opportunities for progression, chartership support, and collaboration on varied UK projects.

Qualifications

• A degree in civil or structural engineering.
• Understanding of load paths and structural behaviour.
• Experience designing steel and/or reinforced concrete to Eurocodes.
• Confidence using hand calculations and structural analysis software.
• Detail-oriented and able to discuss and develop ideas.
• English sufficient to collaborate with UK colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Undertake structural calculations and analysis for new and existing structures.
• Contribute to bridge design, assessment, strengthening and temporary works projects with an opportunity to take on Project Lead role in time.
• Develop practical design solutions, from initial options through to detailed design.
• Prepare calculations, technical reports and sketches, and work with technicians to produce engineering drawings.
• Coordinate your work with colleagues across disciplines and offices.
• Take increasing responsibility for others, deliverables and project coordination as your experience develops.

At VEDA Associates, we design, assess and strengthen bridges and infrastructure. Our established teams in Poland and the UK work together on projects ranging from bridge replacements and strengthening schemes to assessments of existing structures and temporary works.

We are looking for a Structural Engineer to join our Kraków team. You may already work in bridges, or your experience may come from buildings or other structural engineering projects. What matters to us is a sound understanding of structural behaviour, the ability to design from first principles and an interest in developing your expertise.

Working alongside experienced colleagues in Poland and the UK, you will:

• Undertake structural calculations and analysis for new and existing structures.

What you will bring

• A sound understanding of load paths, structural behaviour and design from first principles.
• Experience designing steel and/or reinforced concrete structures to Eurocodes.
• Confidence using hand calculations and structural analysis software, with the judgement to question and check the results.
• An enquiring approach, attention to detail and a willingness to discuss and develop ideas.
• English sufficient to collaborate with UK colleagues and contribute to technical documents and project discussions.

Previous bridge or UK rail experience is welcome, but is not essential. We are interested in your engineering foundations and potential. You will work with experienced bridge engineers as you develop familiarity with the sector and its requirements.
