Job summary

OPmobility in Kraków is seeking a Strategic Commodity Buyer to develop sourcing strategies, manage supplier relationships, and secure competitive agreements across automotive and heavy-duty applications.

You will drive cost reductions, monitor market trends, collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing, travel up to 30% in Europe, and contribute to a high-performing supplier network.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Strategic Purchasing, Commodity Management, or a similar procurement role.
  • Knowledge of battery components and/or BMS is a must.
  • Experience within the automotive industry is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of purchasing, finance, supply chain management, and manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to understand technical and engineering requirements and translate them into effective sourcing strategies.
  • Proven experience in supplier negotiations, contract management, and supplier development.
  • Fluent English communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Driving licence and willingness to travel up to 30% (mainly within Europe).

Responsibilities

  • Identify, evaluate, qualify, and audit new suppliers to support business growth and sourcing needs.
  • Develop and maintain a robust, competitive, and sustainable supplier panel for Automotive and Heavy-Duty applications.
  • Lead supplier selection and contract negotiations to secure the best commercial, technical, and operational conditions for OPmobility.
  • Build strong strategic partnerships with key suppliers and foster long-term supplier engagement.
  • Develop and execute commodity sourcing strategies aligned with business objectives and market dynamics.
  • Monitor market trends, industry developments, and commodity risks to identify opportunities and mitigate potential impacts.
  • Drive cost reduction initiatives and identify synergies across projects, programs, and business units.
  • Negotiate annual productivity improvements and ensure delivery of cost-saving targets.
  • Support Project Buyers in escalation management, supplier crises, and critical supply chain situations.
  • Ensure supplier performance throughout the entire project lifecycle, from innovation and development phases to serial production and aftermarket support.
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Program Management, Quality, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing teams to achieve project objectives.
  • Track supplier performance indicators and implement improvement plans when required.Ensure the achievement of project-specific cost targets and purchasing objectives.
