Job summary

airSlate is seeking a Team Lead PHP Engineer to join the Payments Systems core team. You will design and implement payment experiments, integrate new gateways, and optimize systems to power millions of users.

You will lead a small team, own features end-to-end, and collaborate with Product and Growth. Strong PHP (Yii2/Laravel), Go, and fintech experience are highly preferred, with fluency in English and Ukrainian/Russian.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of backend development experience and 1–2+ years leading or mentoring a small team.
• Strong PHP skills with Yii2 and/or Laravel.
• Relational databases such as MySQL and PostgreSQL.
• Git and Docker expertise.
• Software architecture design and testing discipline on high-load projects.
• Task estimation, decomposition, and prioritization against business goals.
• Cross-functional stakeholder communication and ownership.
• Professional English for daily collaboration.
• Fluency in Ukrainian or Russian.
• Payments or fintech domain experience.
• Kubernetes, GitOps (ArgoCD), and CI/CD (GitHub Actions).
• Go expertise.

Responsibilities

• Develop the payments and billing codebase and guide its technical direction.
• Lead experiments and gateway integrations end-to-end: scope, build, analyze, decide.
• Optimize payment systems for reliability, performance, and security.
• Lead people with 1:1s and PDPs; mentor and align the team.
• Maintain production payments and handle on-duty rotation.
• Collaborate with Product and Growth on payment initiatives.
• Use AI-assisted development in daily work; own tasks and features end-to-end.
