Job summary

Housecall Pro is seeking a Staff Software Engineer I to drive architecture and development of high-impact systems. You will mentor engineers, collaborate with product and design teams, and apply deep technical rigor to deliver reliable, scalable software that improves the lives of home-service pros.

You’ll work with Ruby, PHP, Python and JavaScript in a fast-paced startup environment that values innovation, mentorship, and continuous learning.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with the listed languages.
• Bachelor's degree in CS/CE or equivalent work experience.
• Experience building web apps and working with CMS (WordPress, Strapi, Contentful).
• Strong design/consumption of REST APIs and scalable architectures.
• Proficiency with Git, CI/CD, and performance optimization.
• Experience driving team efficiency with AI tools and automation.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, high-quality software solutions for complex needs.
• Lead architecture and design decisions across multiple systems.
• Collaborate to define technical requirements and approaches.
• Write clean, maintainable code and reinforce best practices.
