Job summary

CoreWeave is seeking a Staff Engineer, AI Object Storage to design and implement distributed storage for scaling AI workloads. You will contribute to exabyte-scale, S3-compatible object storage and integrate dedicated storage clusters into diverse environments.

You will lead cross-functional efforts, optimize throughput and latency, and mentor engineers while advancing reliability, durability, and telemetry through modern storage technologies.

Qualifications

• 8–10+ years in storage systems engineering or infrastructure platforms.
• Hands-on with object storage or distributed filesystems in large-scale production.
• Deep experience with S3, NFS and distributed file systems (Ceph/DAOS or similar).
• Proficiency in Go, C, or Rust and cloud-native infrastructure.

What You’ll Do:

The Storage Engine Team at CoreWeave is responsible for the product capabilities and data plane function of CoreWeave’s managed storage products. We build reliable, scalable storage solutions with segment-leading performance. The storage engine works with engineering teams across infrastructure, compute, and platform to ensure our storage services meet the needs of the world’s most demanding AI workloads.

About the role:

As a Staff Engineer, AI Object Storage , you will design and implement distributed storage solutions to support scaling data-intensive AI workloads. You will contribute to the development of exabyte-scale, S3-compatible object storage and integrate dedicated storage clusters into diverse customer environments. Operating across hardware-adjacent stacks, you will leverage technologies such as RDMA, GPU Direct Storage, and distributed filesystem protocols like NFS or FUSE to optimize platform performance and efficiency. You will lead cross-functional efforts to improve reliability, durability, security, and telemetry metrics while analyzing system data to drive improvements in throughput and latency. Additionally, you will establish operational best practices, set high architectural standards, and mentor engineers on building high-performance distributed systems.

Who You Are:

• 8–10+ years of experience working in storage systems engineering or infrastructure platforms.
• Strong hands‑on experience with object storage or distributed filesystems in high‑scale production environments.
• Deep experience with one or more storage protocols (e.g., S3, NFS) and distributed file systems such as Ceph, DAOS, or similar.
• Proficiency in a systems programming language such as Go, C, or Rust.
• Experience working with cloud‑native infrastructure, Kubernetes, and scalable system architectures.
• Familiarity with storage observability tools, metrics collection, and telemetry pipelines (e.g., ClickHouse, Prometheus, Grafana).
• Proficiency leveraging AI tools to augment and accelerate software development workflows.
• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

The base salary range for this role is 369,000 PLN to 493,000 PLN gross annually. The starting salary will be determined based on job‑related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location. We strive for both market alignment and internal equity when determining compensation. In addition to base salary, our total rewards package includes a discretionary bonus, equity awards, and a comprehensive benefits program (all based on eligibility).
