Job summary

Meeru AI is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to own the application and API services layer for our multi-tenant platform serving enterprise finance teams. You will design contracts between layers, implement authentication and authorization, and ensure audit trails and compliance across cloud deployments. This hands-on, high-ownership role partners with data, AI, and product teams.

You will mentor engineers and shape backend patterns while delivering reliable, cost-conscious services.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in backend forward deployment engineering with staff-level ownership
• Ownership of multi-cloud SaaS services with strong isolation
• Strong API design, versioning, and backward compatibility
• Practical security: authentication, authorization, and tenant isolation
• Proficiency in Python
• Experience with FastAPI, Django, or Flask; PostgreSQL and Redis
• Experience with REST API design; Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform
• SQL against Snowflake or PostgreSQL

Responsibilities

• Own the multi-tenant APIs through which the platform's results are consumed
• Build the review, approval, and exception-handling workflows finance teams operate in
• Maintain multi-tenant isolation at the service layer
• Build the audit trail linking user actions to computations and results
• Enable multi-cloud, customer-hosted deployment with strong isolation
• Own performance, reliability, and cost of the services with observability
• Set backend patterns, review designs, and mentor mid and senior engineers
