Job summary

Gramian Consultancy is seeking a Space Quality Assurance Engineer to support QA on satellite or spacecraft projects. The role requires hands-on experience with ECSS-Q standards, documentation reviews, and non-conformance management in a structured project environment.

This contractor, full-time and multi-year, is onsite in Friedrichshafen, Germany, with relocation support. English fluency is required; German is a plus.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of QA/quality engineering experience in space/aerospace.
• Hands-on ECSS-Q standards knowledge and implementation.
• Experience with reviews, audits and non-conformance management.

Responsibilities

• Support QA and product assurance activities for satellite/spacecraft projects.
• Ensure processes and deliverables comply with ECSS-Q requirements.
• Review technical docs, quality records, test docs, and project deliverables.
• Participate in design, manufacturing, test readiness, and acceptance reviews.
• Monitor non-conformances and corrective actions; track quality risks.
• Assist internal or supplier audits and close out actions.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and project management.
• Maintain traceability of quality requirements and documentation.
• Contribute to QA process improvements and reporting.

Role Overview

We are looking for a Space Quality Assurance Engineers with strong knowledge of ECSS-Q standards to support quality and product assurance activities on satellite or spacecraft projects. This role is suited for someone with hands‑on experience in space project QA, technical documentation, process compliance, supplier follow‑up, reviews, audits, and non‑conformance management.

The ideal candidate has worked in the space or aerospace industry and understands how ECSS‑based quality requirements are applied across engineering, manufacturing, testing, and delivery.

CONTRACT: Contractor Agreement

COMMITMENT: Full-time (multi-year)

LOCATIONS: ONSITE Friedrichshafen, Germany; Relocation support

NOTES: EU passport needed; English fluency is required; German is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support quality assurance and product assurance activities for satellite or spacecraft projects
• Ensure project processes and deliverables comply with ECSS-Q requirements
• Review technical documentation, quality records, test documentation, and project deliverables
• Support design reviews, manufacturing reviews, test readiness reviews, and acceptance reviews
• Monitor non‑conformances, corrective actions, deviations, waivers, and quality risks
• Participate in internal or supplier audits and follow up on action items
• Work with engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and project management teams
• Support supplier quality activities and review supplier documentation when needed
• Maintain traceability of quality requirements, evidence, and project documentation
• Contribute to continuous improvement of QA processes, templates, and reporting
• 5+ years of experience in quality assurance, product assurance, or quality engineering
• Experience in the space or aerospace industry
• Practical knowledge of ECSS-Q standards
• Experience with non‑conformance management, corrective actions, deviations, or waivers
• Experience reviewing technical documentation, test documentation, or quality records
• Experience supporting project reviews, audits, inspections, or acceptance processes
• Fluency in spoken and written English
• Ability to work with technical engineering teams in a structured project environment

Nice to Have

• Experience with ECSS‑Q‑ST‑10 or ECSS‑Q‑ST‑20
• Experience with ECSS‑Q‑ST‑60 for EEE components
• Experience with ECSS‑Q‑ST‑70 for materials, mechanical parts, or processes
• Experience with ECSS‑Q‑ST‑80 for software product assurance
• Previous experience on satellite, spacecraft, payload, or ground segment programs
• Fluency in spoken and written German
