Job summary

Goldbeck Solar is seeking a Battery Storage Sourcing Engineer to review and technically evaluate large-scale BESS solutions from global suppliers. You will manage tender processes, compare offers, and help make cost-effective buying decisions.

You will collaborate with internal engineering teams to optimize designs, develop Excel-based tools, and align with manufacturers on technical details before contracts are signed. Fluent English and German are required.

Qualifications

• University degree in a technical field (Electrical/Industrial)
• Several years in engineering or technical sourcing for large-scale battery storage or HV projects
• Solid understanding of battery tech, grid connections and single-line diagrams
• Strong analytical skills and ability to turn data into Excel tools
• Proactive, problem-solving mindset with ability to build new frameworks from scratch
• Confident communicator for technical discussions with global suppliers
• Fluency in English and German required

Responsibilities

• Review and technically evaluate large-scale BESS solutions from top global suppliers.

• Analyze client technical requests and match with best, most cost-effective battery setups.
• Collaborate with internal engineering teams to optimize designs and reduce unnecessary costs.
• Create and maintain internal tools and templates to speed up pre-sales (e.g., degradation models).
• Align with battery manufacturers on technical details, boundaries and protocols before contracts.
• Support procurement in writing technical sections of contracts (performance, efficiency, life-cycle).
• Identify risks in the supply chain and assist in evaluating supplier performance.

Job description

Your Responsibilities:

1. Review and technically evaluate large-scale battery storage solutions (BESS) from top global suppliers like Sungrow, CATL etc.
2. Manage the technical aspects of tender processes, compare different supplier offers, and help make clear buying decisions.
3. Analyze technical requests from clients and match them with the best and most cost-effective battery setups.
4. Work closely with internal engineering teams to optimize designs, cut unnecessary costs, and prevent over-engineering.
5. Create and maintain internal tools and templates, such as battery degradation models, to speed up the pre-sales process.
6. Align directly with battery manufacturers on technical details, boundaries, and communication protocols before contracts are signed.
7. Help procurement managers write the technical parts of contracts, focusing on performance guarantees, efficiency, and battery lifecycles.
8. Spot technical risks in the supply chain and help grade supplier performance.

What we are looking for:

1. A university degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a similar technical field
2. Several years of professional experience in engineering or technical sourcing, ideally working with large-scale battery storage, substations, or high-voltage projects
3. A solid understanding of battery technologies, grid connections, and single-line diagrams
4. Strong analytical skills and the ability to turn complex technical data into easy-to-use Excel tools
5. A proactive, problem-solving mindset with the drive to build new frameworks and processes from scratch
6. Confident communication skills to manage technical discussions with global suppliers and explain technical terms to commercial managers
7. Fluency in English and German is required
