Job summary

Worldline is hiring a Software Engineer for Payments in a hybrid role based in Europe. You will join the Acquiring Global Products back‑office team and contribute to a large, mission‑critical payments platform.

You will develop robust backend solutions with Java and Spring Boot, work with Oracle SQL/PL‑SQL, and participate in a modern DevOps environment including CI/CD tooling. On‑call duties are part of the role, reflecting ownership and reliability expectations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
• Proven software development experience with Java and Spring (Boot).
• Experience with database development (Oracle SQL / PL‑SQL).
• Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD and containerized environments.

Day‑to‑day responsibilities

• Build and evolve avery large, business‑critical platformthat merchants worldwide rely on every day.
• Work in anagile DevOps teamthat owns features across the full lifecycle: analysis, design, implementation, functional testing, deployment, operation, and support.
• Develop robust backend solutions usingJava and Spring (Boot) as your daily toolkit.
• Work withOracle databases (SQL / PL‑SQL) as a core part of our application landscape.
• Operate in ahybrid infrastructure: a heavily containerized world (think Podman & friends) running alongside bare‑metal systems.
• Ship with confidence using modern CI/CD (e.g.,GitLab CI) and infrastructure automation (e.g.,Ansible).
• Leverage AI smartly and responsibly– we actively encourage using tools likeGitHub CopilotandClaude Codeto write better code faster, improve quality, and free up time for the problems that really matter. This is something we live, not just talk about.
• Take part inon-call / stand‑by rotationto keep the systems you build healthy and running.

Who are we looking for

• Genuinepassion for software development
• Some professional experiencebuilding software – you don't need to be a senior, but you should be comfortable contributing to real‑world systems

• Experience withdatabase development, ideallyOracle SQL / PL‑SQL
• Familiarity withcontainersand an openness to bare‑metal environments

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field – or equivalent practical experience
• Very good German and English, written and spoken

• Willingness and availability for 24/7 on‑call dutyas a core part of the role
