Job summary

Google is seeking software engineers to design and implement backend APIs, services, and core capabilities for Dataform, delivering new features and scalable platform functionality. You’ll tackle infrastructure bottlenecks, boost security/stability, and collaborate across teams to design robust API and system solutions.

Additionally, you’ll monitor, debug, and support production releases in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of software development experience in one or more programming languages.
• Proficiency with Kotlin, Java, Scala or Go.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement backend APIs, services, and core capabilities for Dataform to deliver new features and enhance platform functionality.
• Scope, design, and drive technical solutions to address infrastructure bottlenecks and continuously enhance the security and stability of the platform.
• Partner with front-end teams and other Google Cloud service owners on API and system designs.
• Build scalable code management and pipeline orchestration solutions powering both Dataform product and Google Cloud.
• Participate in monitoring, debugging, and production support (on-call rotations) to maintain health and enable reliable releases.

Job description

Minimum qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.

Preferred qualifications

• 2 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
• Experience designing, building, and scaling backend services, APIs, and data infrastructure.
• Experience with Kotlin, Java, Scala or Go.
• Experience in Data Analytics and ETL tools.
• Experience debugging complex issues, improving platform stability and security, and writing testable, maintainable code.
• Understanding of back-end architecture, distributed systems concepts, database/storage solutions, and system performance tuning.
