Job summary

Netflix Services Poland sp. z o.o. is looking for a Distributed Systems Engineer for the Data Platform team. You will be tasked with evolving our infrastructure and ensuring the reliability and scalability of our internal data products.

The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of experience in distributed systems, is proficient in RESTful services, and has a background in Java or other object-oriented languages. An ability to collaborate across teams is essential.

Qualifications

Distributed Systems Engineer – Data Platform

We are seeking Distributed Systems Engineers to help evolve and innovate our Product and Infrastructure as part of the Data Platform team.

Teams

• Online Data Stores Team – Taking end-to‑end ownership of internal data platform products, including ZooKeeper, ensuring reliability, scalability, and evolution. Will expand to more datastores and broader infrastructure initiatives.
• Data Discovery and Experiences Team – Owns governance and experience layers for data projects, defining data ownership models, lifecycle management and ensuring data quality, lineage, and policy enforcement. Builds the data portal interface, backend services, APIs, and a command‑line tool. Will expand to support more general project concepts beyond data.

What You Will Do

• Solving business needs at scale by applying software engineering and analytical problem‑solving skills.
• Designing and building robust, scalable, and highly available distributed infrastructure.
• Leading cross‑functional initiatives and collaborating with engineers, product managers, and technical program managers across teams.
• Sharing experiences with open‑source communities and contributing to Netflix OSS.

Qualifications

• 2 or more years of experience building features or applications for large‑scale distributed systems.
• Proficient in designing and developing RESTful web services.
• Experience building and operating scalable, fault‑tolerant distributed systems.
• Experience with Java or other object‑oriented programming languages and scripting languages such as Python.
• Comfortable with multi‑threading challenges.
• Developed skills through a variety of educational or professional experiences in computer science, engineering, or a related field.

Nice to Have

• Front‑end engineering skills.
