Job summary

Rockwell Automation is seeking a Senior Windchill Developer to join the global IT Product Lifecycle Management team. You will develop and customize Windchill applications, ensure scalable PLM capabilities, and collaborate with cross-functional teams across the enterprise.

The role reports to a Poland-based Manager and offers a hybrid work arrangement. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in Windchill, strong Java/J2EE skills, and experience with Windchill APIs and configuration elements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field.
• 5+ years of hands-on Windchill development, configuration, and customization.
• Strong functional and technical knowledge of PLM/Windchill capabilities (Part, BOM, Document, CAD/WVS/Publishing Rules/Representations, Change Management).
• Experience with Windchill configuration elements: ACLs, OIRs, lifecycles, workflows, types, attributes, business rules, QueryBuilder reports.
• Strong experience with Java/J2EE programming, Windchill APIs for customization and integration (custom actions, data utilities, validators, event listeners).
• Knowledge of JSP, XML, HTML, and JavaScript.
• Familiarity with Windows and Linux servers.
• Knowledge of Windchill Data Model and Windchill reporting.
• Familiarity with Git, Azure DevOps, and CI/CD.

Responsibilities

• Translate functional requirements into design and development for new enhancements.
• Develop and customize Windchill applications, modules, workflows and reporting frameworks.
• Prepare technical specification documents.
• Estimate effort and complexity for development tasks.
• Implement enhancements and integrations using Windchill APIs.
• Coordinate with Kalypso & PTC Cloud support for maintenance and upgrades.
• Provide end-user support for global Windchill users.
• Troubleshoot Windchill issues including upgrades and configurations.
• Participate in SAFe ceremonies and backlog grooming.
• Identify and pursue process improvement opportunities.

Job Description

Rockwell Automation is in the process of implementation Windchill solution as a new corporate-wide PLM platform.

You will be a member of global IT Product Lifecycle Management team. As a Senior Windchill Developer at Rockwell Automation, you will be responsible for the development, customization, and support of our Windchill PLM platform. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement scalable solutions that enhance product lifecycle management capabilities across the enterprise. The role reports directly to a Manager located in Poland and offers a hybrid working arrangement.

Your Responsibilities:

• Transfer functional requirements into solution design & development for new enhancement requests, build preparation for the developed requirements.
• Develop and customize Windchill applications, modules, workflows and reporting frameworks.
• Prepare technical specification documents.
• Estimate effort and complexity for new development tasks and enhancements.
• Implement enhancements and integrations with 3rd party systems using Windchill ESI connectors and Windchill APIs.
• Collaborate with Kalypso & PTC Cloud support to manage regular maintenance activities and upgrade events.
• Provide end-user support for the global Windchill engineering userbase.
• Troubleshoot and resolve Windchill-related issues, including custom upgrades and configuration errors
• Participate in SAFe ceremonies (daily synchs, sprint planning, backlog grooming).
• Continuously seek for the improvement opportunities.

The Essentials - You Will Have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field.
• 5+ years of hand-on experience in PTC Windchill development, configuration and customization.
• Strong functional and technical knowledge of PLM/Windchill capabilities including Part, BOM, Document, CAD/WVS/Publishing Rules/Representations, and Change Management.
• Experience with Windchill configuration elements: ACLs, OIRs, lifecycles, workflows, types, attributes, business rules, QueryBuilder reports.
• Strong experience with Java/J2EE programming, including use of Windchill APIs for customization and integration, e.g. custom actions, data utilities, validators, event listeners.
• Programming knowledge of JSP, XML, HTML, and JavaScript.
• Familiarity with platforms such as Microsoft Server and Linux.
• Knowledge of Windchill Data Model and Windchill reporting.
• Familiarity with code repositories and CI/CD tools, e.g., Git, ADO, GitHub, Azure DevOps.
• Fluent in English (C1).

The Preferred - You Might Also Have:

• Familiarity with Windchill modules- PartsLink (Classification), MPMLink etc.
• On-hands experience with ESI. Experience in Windchill REST Services and Integrations.
• Knowledge of Windchill ThingWorx and Navigate.
• Exposure to Ticketing Tools like Service Now.
