Job summary

Balyasny Asset Management L.P. in Warsaw is seeking a Lead Engineer for the Warsaw Trade Processing team. You will own architecture, deliver production software, and mentor a small team while collaborating with a global Operations Technology group.

The role focuses on designing and building scalable trade processing platforms, migrating from C# to Rust, and defining technical standards across a high-volume system supporting multiple strategies.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of enterprise software engineering with leadership ownership.
• Strong command of C#/.NET and service-oriented architecture; interest in Rust as migration occurs.
• Experience using AI tools to accelerate delivery and establish governance.
• Experience designing reliable, scalable systems for high-volume workloads.
• AWS, cloud-native/serverless, and streaming tech (Kafka) experience.

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture of high-throughput, distributed trade processing systems to be reliable and scalable.
• Spend at least 50% of time hands-on—designing, writing, reviewing, and delivering production code.
• Own post-trade lifecycle across multiple asset classes.
• Onboard new products onto the platform with a small team.
• Lead C# to Rust migration, establish patterns and best practices.
• Use AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery and set engineering standards.
• Provide technical leadership and light people management for engineers.
• Translate business needs into technical strategy and align with global initiatives.
• Define and drive technical roadmaps balancing delivery and long-term health.
