Job summary

Google is seeking software engineers to advance next-generation technologies across platforms, devices, and services. You will work on projects critical to Google’s needs, with opportunities to switch teams as you grow in a fast-paced environment.

The Platforms and Devices team builds computing software platforms across desktop, mobile, and first-party hardware, integrating AI, software, and hardware to deliver seamless experiences worldwide.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
• 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
• 2 years of experience with Android domain, embedded processors, Linux kernel, drivers, or BSP.
• Experience in embedded software/firmware architecture design, device driver/HAL development, Linux/Android system optimization.

Responsibilities

• Develop and sustain the whole system software stack for Pixel devices.
• Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
• Develop Google System on a Chip (SoC) and the in-market devices system software kernel sustaining.
• Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.

Minimum qualifications

Preferred qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• 5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
• Experience with Linux Kernel, Linux Kernel Internals or Android Kernel.
• 3 years of relevant work experience, including development, testing and deployment for Android BSP, Linux device drivers, Linux kernel modules, or FreeRTOS drivers/modules.
