Job summary

Box Poland is seeking a senior Front-End Engineer to help build Notes and Canvas on Box’s platform. You will design and implement high-quality, scalable UI code using JavaScript/TypeScript, React, HTML, and CSS, while collaborating with cross-functional teams and aligning on priorities.

You will work with Node.js back-end tasks, design APIs, participate in on-call rotations, and contribute to engineering standards.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software development experience.
• Deep expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript with React and strong HTML/CSS knowledge.
• Backend coding experience with Node.js is required.
• Experience designing APIs and services; solid system design & data modeling.
• Proven ability to design, build, and deploy high-quality software.
• Strong knowledge of algorithms, data structures, software design principles, and OOP.
• English proficiency.

Why Box needs you:

The Content Creation team owns Notes and Canvas products of Box’s platform. The functionality that this team builds is used by our largest cohorts of users (versus just admin users). They are the only true real-time service at Box, using web sockets to deliver a real-time editing product. It’s a complex problem space that we are experts in, and it’s a great team to join if you want to contribute to creating one of the most vital Box products. The team is mostly developing Front-End with React.js, for Back-End tasks they use mostly Node.js.

Responsibilities:

• Develop high-quality, scalable, and responsive software using modern technologies.
• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code using industry best practices.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to onboard, share knowledge, and align on current responsibilities and priorities
• Participate in regular team meetings and manager 1:1s to ensure alignment, growth, and continuous improvement
• Create clear technical documentation, reusable patterns, and examples to scale knowledge across engineering teams
• Leverage AI tools (e.g., Claude, Cursor) to accelerate development, research, documentation, and bug triage while maintaining high standards of quality and security
• Represent and advocate for Box Poland’s engineering excellence both internally and externally
• Maintain and support one or more legacy codebases
• Contribute to defining and implementing engineering standards across product teams
• Participate in our on-call rotation, available at all times while on-call to help respond to and triage any issues that arise.

Requirements:

• 6+ years of professional software development experience.
• Deep expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript with at least one modern frontend framework (e.g., React), and strong HTML/CSS knowledge with responsive UIs; strong understanding of state management, accessibility, performance, and security basics.
• Some backend coding experience with Node.js is required, and proficiency will be a big advantage
• Experience designing and implementing APIs and services; solid grasp of system design and data modeling.
• Proven ability to design, build, and deploy high-quality software.
• Strong knowledge of algorithms, data structures, software design principles, and object-oriented programming.
• Passionate about new technologies with the capability to implement them in existing products.
• Demonstrates ownership mentality and strives for excellence in both technical work and team interactions.
• Proficient in English.

Nice to have:

• Experience with Google Cloud Platform and/or Amazon Web Services.
• Experience with Web sockets and real-time applications
• Experience contributing to cross-platform solutions as part of a team
