Job summary

SimCorp is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Transactions & Private Debt area, contributing to backend functionality in APL and C#/.NET. You will work within an experienced team, focusing on performance, reliability, and maintainability of enterprise software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, mathematics, or a related field.
• Strong fundamentals in OO design, architecture, and clean code.
• Experience with C#/.NET (Core/Framework) and building backend services.
• Familiarity with REST/streaming APIs and messaging concepts.
• Experience with CI/CD and Git-based workflows.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, test and maintain backend functionality using APL and, where relevant, C#/.NET
• Contribute to component design, code quality, performance and maintainability

WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT TO US

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Transactions & Private Debt product area and contribute to business-critical functionality used by our clients in their daily investment operations. You will work as part of an experienced engineering team, contributing to backend development, component design, performance, reliability and maintainability. The work is technically interesting because it combines complex business logic, long-lived enterprise software and the need to keep improving how we build and deliver functionality. Most of the current product logic is written in APL, while we are increasing our use of C#/.NET and AI in new development, integrations, cloud enablement, and platform modernization. You do not need prior APL experience. We will provide training and support and we are looking for someone who is curious enough to learn what is needed while bringing solid engineering practices from C#/.NET. You will work with experienced engineers across locations and have room to contribute to how we build, modernize and evolve the product.

WHAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, mathematics, ora relatedfield.
• Solid engineering fundamentals: object-oriented design, architecture patterns, clean code, and pragmatic problem solving
• Solid experience in C#/.NET (Core/Framework) and building backend systems (APIs, services, integrations).
• Familiarity with APIs (REST/streaming patterns) and messaging concepts (e.g., service bus patterns).
• Experience with Azure or cloud-based development is an advantage, but not a prerequisite
• Experience with automated testing, code reviews, CI/CD, and Git-based workflows.
• Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to work with complex business logic and collaborate with both technical and non-technical colleagues.

APL READINESS

You don’t need prior APL experience. What matters is curiosity and willingness to learn. We provide training and a supportive environment to help you succeed, and SimCorp partly owns Dyalog APL, helping ensure the language remains actively maintained and relevant.

• FinTech / regulated-industry experience.
• Exposure to vector-based or functional languages (helpful for ramping up in APL).
