Job summary

Cisco ThousandEyes is seeking a software engineer to build secure, scalable systems for running browser-based synthetic tests across a global fleet of agents. You will help design and improve the services that schedule and execute customer-authored scripts, and contribute to the ThousandEyes Recorder used to create tests locally.

The Browser Synthetics Team builds the systems customers use to create and run browser-based synthetic tests. Customers write transaction scripts, which the platform executes across a fleet of ThousandEyes agents. The ThousandEyes Recorder is a standalone application that helps customers create these tests locally.

Your Impact

As a software engineer on this team, you will build secure, scalable systems for running synthetic tests across a global fleet of ThousandEyes agents. You will help design and improve the services that schedule and execute customer-authored transaction scripts, as well as the ThousandEyes Recorder application customers use to create tests locally. Your work will help enterprise customers assess the performance and reliability of their digital experiences.

Minimum Qualifications

• Professional software development experience using Java or Go.


• Experience designing and implementing APIs in distributed software architectures.


• Experience with Git, automated testing, and continuous integration and delivery workflows.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.


• Deep knowledge of Chromium orchestration through the Chrome DevTools Protocol (CDP).


• Familiarity with container engines such as runc, crun, or podman, and programmatic management of container lifecycles.


• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as Codex or Claude.


• Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively on a cross-functional team.
