Tripadvisor is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join the Experiences Engineering team. This full-stack role emphasizes Java, SQL, React, AWS, and AI tools, with autonomy and technical leadership across scalable distributed systems powering travel experiences for millions globally.

The role offers a remote-first working model with optional in-person gatherings at select offices. Candidates must be within commutable distance of Krakow, London, Oxford, Lisbon, or other hubs.

Qualifications

• Deep understanding of concurrent programming and building high-performance backend systems in cloud environments.
• Ability to translate strategy into actionable technical specifications and lead multi-quarter initiatives.
• Ability to set code quality standards and mentor engineers.
• Experience with AI tooling and applying AI to plan approaches and improve reliability.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end feature design and implementation with focus on security, privacy, and performance.
• Collaborate with Product and Data partners to turn business goals into technical specs.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers to elevate the team.
• Use AI tools to plan, decompose work, and establish new standards for monitoring and reliability.
• Define operational strategy and design fault-tolerant architectures with automation in mind.
• Identify opportunities to simplify or retire legacy code to faster velocity.
