The Tripadvisor Experiences Engineering team is distributed across Europe and responsible for Tripadvisor.com, the Tripadvisor mobile apps and all supporting infrastructure. We run systems that help operators build their businesses and enable third parties to utilize our inventory.

We’re seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join a remote-first team with in-person gatherings in Cracow as needed. We embrace a flexible remote-first model and value meaningful in-person moments for collaboration.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of commercial software development experience.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams.
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting of production issues.
• Experience building scalable distributed systems.
• Experience with software architecture, design principles and engineering best practices.
• Experience with AWS or Azure cloud platforms, languages such as Java, Python, or Scala, and SQL/NoSQL databases.

Responsibilities

• Design and architect scalable systems for complex problems.
• Conduct design reviews at pillar and org levels.
• Improve operational maturity and promote best practices across engineers.
• Align technology strategy with product roadmaps and timelines.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering managers to set milestones.
• Serve as a go-to technical leader across multiple technologies.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure alignment on goals and timelines.
