Job summary

Smartling is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build and support highly scalable services in a remote-friendly environment. You will own features end-to-end and work across Java, Node, and React stacks, leveraging AI coding agents to deliver production-ready code.

You’ll collaborate with product managers, CSMs, and fellow engineers to shape scope, ensure quality, and drive value for clients and the company while advancing your career in a fast-growing, English-speaking team.

Qualifications

• Senior software engineer with scalable systems experience.
• Proficiency in at least one backend language (Java / Kotlin / Node).
• Strong grasp of service-oriented architecture and SOA.
• Experience with relational databases and schema design.
• Solid CS fundamentals: algorithms and data structures.
• Experience with AI coding agents and evaluating their output.
• Ability to design, test, and explain changes, including AI-generated code.
• Fluent English communication, both written and spoken.
• BS or higher in computer science or equivalent.
• Ability to work remotely in a distributed team.

Responsibilities

• Own features end to end from problem clarification to production release.
• Work across repositories and technologies (Java, Node, React) delivering code via AI agents.
• Ensure quality of all shipped work, including AI-generated code.
• Collaborate with colleagues, product managers and customer success managers to clarify scope and needs.
• Add automated tests and pass changes through the delivery pipeline.
• Evaluate output by value delivered to clients and the company.
