Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to strengthen our Data Engineering Team. You will join a multinational group building high-performance streaming platforms, core services, and DevOps tooling for reliable data delivery.

You will work on scalable data pipelines, observability improvements, and automation to reduce manual tasks. This role offers a flexible working program and opportunities to impact global products.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Experience with SQL and software development using at least 2 of Golang, Python, Java, C/C++, JavaScript.
• 5+ years with distributed systems, Linux networking, TCP/IP, SSH, SSL, and HTTP protocols.
• 3+ years in DevOps practices and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Helm, Ansible, Terraform, Puppet).
• 3+ years with Observability and Security tools (Prometheus, DataDog).
• Experience with Hadoop and Spark; design principles.
• Scripting in bash; SQL and REST API design; ability to troubleshoot complex production issues.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to design and implementation of highly available, scalable streaming solutions.
• Build, integrate, support and improve data streaming services on Akamai Platform.
• Design and develop DevOps tools to ensure seamless software delivery.
• Develop processes to monitor, analyze, maintain and improve streaming data pipelines and observability.
• Develop and implement automated procedures to minimize human intervention.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will join a team of software and platform engineers. Your team will enhance platform core services and will design and develop DevOps tools for managing. 100% availability and three 9's performance and reliability data streaming platform.

• Contributing to the design and implementation of highly available, scalable, and performant solutions
• Building integrating, supporting and improving data streaming services on Akamai Platform with focus on systems for collecting and analyzing performance metrics
• Designing and developing DevOps tools to make the software delivery system run seamlessly
• Developing processes and tools to monitor, analyze, maintain and improve streaming data pipelines usability and observability
• Developing and implementing procedures for automating operational tasks, streamlining day-to-day work to achieve zero human engagement paradigm

Do What You Love

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have relevant experience and a Bachelor diploma in Computer Science or another related field or its equivalent.
• Have experience with SQL and software development using at least 2 out of Golang, Python, Java, C/C++, JavaScript is nice to have
• Have experience (+5) with distributed systems, Linux networking, TCP/IP, SSH, SSL, and HTTP protocols
• Have experience (+3) in DevOps practices and CI/CD tools like Jenkins, Helm, Ansible, Terraform, Puppet
• Have experience (+3) with Observability, Performance Analytics, Security tools like Prometheus and DataDog
• Have experience with big data platforms like Hadoop and Spark; design principles
• Demonstrate skills in bash scripting, SQL and REST API design; able to troubleshoot complex production issues
