Job summary

Affirm is seeking an experienced Site Reliability Engineer to join a small, crucial team dedicated to operating what they own and protecting the customer experience. You will own quarterly goals, lead engineers through ambiguity, and ensure reliability at scale using Bash, Python or Kotlin, plus AWS and Kubernetes.

Qualifications

• 4+ years designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale
• Experience with distributed systems and reliability concepts
• Proven ability to influence incident lifecycle and post-incident analysis
• 4+ years in Site Reliability or Production Engineering teams
• Strong communication and collaboration across teams
• Ability to write high-quality, maintainable code

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver quarterly goals for your team and guide engineers through ambiguity.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, product management, and analytics during ideation and decision making.
• Proactively identify technical solutions to strengthen incident readiness and response.
• Monitor metrics, escalate when needed, and support on-call efforts to keep systems reliable.
• Set or improve code review and design standards across the team and advocate widely.
• Develop talent by providing feedback and leading by example.
