Job summary

OANDA is seeking a Senior React Native Engineer to join our Mobile Engineering Team in Krakow. You will work on a production React Native codebase embedded in native iOS and Android hosts, delivering high-performance, real-time trading interfaces.

You will own end-to-end delivery from concept to production within your first three months, collaborating with backend, product, and UX for fast, reliable mobile experiences in an agile environment.

Qualifications

• Solid background in mobile app development across iOS and/or Android.
• Senior-level experience building and scaling React Native apps in production.
• Deep TypeScript mastery with large codebases.
• Experience with React Native architecture including native modules, Fabric, TurboModules, Hermes, and the New Architecture.
• Experience with React Query for data fetching and caching.
• Willingness to adopt AI-assisted development tools.

Responsibilities

• Drive architecture and code quality, lead proofs-of-concept for new patterns, improve developer experience, ensure UI responsiveness for real-time trading.

How do we work?

As a Senior React Native Engineer, you will join our tight-knit, 6-person Mobile Engineering Team based primarily in Krakow, working together to build the next generation of OANDA's trading platform. You will work on a production brownfield React Native codebase embedded within native iOS and Android hosts, managing interconnected internal packages that power high-performance, real-time trading interfaces. In a highly agile setup, you will collaborate closely with the team to deliver a fast, reliable, and fault-tolerant mobile experience where correctness, low latency, and exceptional user experience are paramount.

We work in a hybrid model - we'd love to meet you in the office 2 times a week with respect to your own commitments.

In this role, you will:

• Develop and ship new features for a high-performance React Native codebase embedded within native iOS and Android hosts.


• Drive architecture and code quality, leading proofs-of-concept for new patterns, improving developer experience, and ensuring high UI responsiveness for real-time trading.


• Design and align RESTful API contracts in close collaboration with backend, product, and UX Design Teams.


• Write reusable, well-tested, and maintainable code, taking full ownership across all stages of the mobile software development lifecycle.


• Elevate team engineering standards through thorough code reviews, technical mentorship, and active participation in agile planning sessions.


• Own end-to-end delivery, taking features from concept to production release within your first three months while contributing to overall application architecture.

What skillset do you need to be successful in this role?

• Solid background in mobile application development, understanding platform-specific nuances across iOS and/or Android.


• Proven senior-level experience building and scaling React Native applications in a production environment.


• Deep TypeScript mastery, with strong experience navigating strict configurations across large, shared codebases.


• Hands-on experience in building and optimizing React Native architecture (including native modules, Fabric, TurboModules, Hermes, and the New Architecture).


• Solid data-fetching and cache-management skills using React Query (v4/v5) to ensure consistent server state across screens.


• A forward-thinking mindset and enthusiasm for modern tools, including a practical, open approach to leveraging AI-assisted development tools to boost productivity.

Nice to have:

• Strict testing discipline (Jest, React Native Testing Library) as an integrated part of your development workflow.


• Hands-on experience with monorepos and internal packages (e.g., Lerna, Nx, npm workspaces).


• Experience in FinTech, trading platforms, or high-throughput real-time systems.
