Job summary

Hatch in Katowice, Poland seeks a Senior Rail Systems Signalling & Train Control Engineer to join our Global Rail Systems team. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineering and brings 10+ years of experience in design, installation, signal testing and operation/maintenance of mainline or commuter systems.

Responsibilities include formulating level crossing and signal system designs, block schemes, interlockings, and contract drawings; ensuring field verification

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 10+ years of experience in design, installation, signaling testing and maintenance of mainline or commuter systems.
• Experience with ETCS, ATC, PTC, CBTC and interlockings is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Prepare designs for level crossing warning systems in accordance with project regulations.
• Prepare designs for signal system logic, including electronic and relay-based systems.
• Lead development of signal system block designs based on train performance criteria and schedules.
• Produce signal system drawings (Signalling Scheme Plans, Interlocking Data, Trackside Design, circuits).
• Develop material/specifications and quantity estimates; perform field verifications and testing.
• Collaborate with clients to incorporate signal requirements into contract documents.

Hatch, a globally respected leader in railway consulting, is currently seeking candidates for the following position to join our Global Rail Systems team in the Katowice, Poland :

Senior Rail Systems Signalling and Train Control Engineer

Requirements:

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s orMaster’s degree in Electrical Engineeringor equivalent, and 10 or more years of relevant experience including design, installation, signal system testing, and operation and maintenance of mainline and/or commuter signal systems. Design experience includes signalling and train control systems, block design, ETCS, ATC, PTC, CBTC, electronic and relay-based interlockings, as well as level crossing warning systems. Candidates must be skilled in the preparation of contract drawings, specifications, cost estimating, field verification, inspection, and testing (Mainline & Commuter). Project management experience and Professional Engineering Registration (or equivalent) or IRSE licensing are considered a plus.

We are seeking a results-driven engineering professional with excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work well in a team environment. Candidates must be detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills, the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines andmaintaininga high levelof quality, as well as the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Experience working with electronic interlockings (hardware and software), axle counters, AC and DC track circuits,balises, and crossing predictors is preferred. Experience with ERTMS, PTC and/or CBTC is an advantage.

Prepare designs for level crossing warning systemsin accordance withproject regional regulations.

Prepare designs for signal system logic, including both electronic and relay-based systems.

Lead the development of signal system block designs based on train performance criteria, product specifications, and train schedule headway and run-time analysis.

Prepare signal system-related drawings (Signalling Scheme Plans, Interlocking Design Data, Trackside Design, Typical and Detailed Circuits, etc.).

Develop material and construction specifications and quantity estimates.

Perform field inspections, prepare reports, andassistwith signal testing.

Work with clients and incorporate their signal requirements into contract documents.

Fluency in English isrequired; knowledge ofadditionallanguages is an advantage.

This position is based in Poland and will support global signalling projects from our Katowice, Poland office.
