Job description

About Critical Facility Group
Critical Facility Group (CFG) is an MEP consulting and owner's project management firm specializing in data centers and mission-critical facilities. Our engineers and project managers design, build, and protect the infrastructure that keeps the world's most important systems running, from substations and power systems to mechanical, electrical, and telecommunications design.

We're a remote-first team of experienced professionals who value technical excellence, ownership, and collaboration. Most CFG roles are fully remote; our owner's project management team works on-site at client locations. At CFG, you'll work on complex, high-impact projects alongside people who care about doing the work right.

Remote (US)

Model the power systems that keep the blinky lights blinking.

About the Role

Critical Facility Group (CFG) is hiring a Senior Power Systems Engineer to lead advanced power system studies for data centers and mission-critical facilities. You'll independently develop and validate power system models using PSCAD and conventional study software, evaluate system performance and reliability, and provide technical recommendations that inform critical infrastructure design.

This is a hands-on senior engineering role requiring strong analytical judgment, technical ownership, and the ability to communicate complex findings to project teams and clients.

What You'll Do

Independently perform and interpret short-circuit, load flow, protective device coordination, and arc-flash studies.

Develop, validate, and analyze PSCAD models for transient and power quality studies.

Use SKM and/or ETAP for conventional power system studies.

Evaluate UPS systems, generators, switchgear, and electrical distribution infrastructure for performance and reliability.

Develop protection philosophies, relay settings recommendations, and arc-flash mitigation strategies.

Coordinate equipment data, system models, and protection settings with design teams, vendors, utilities, and commissioning teams.

Prepare technical reports, present findings, and communicate recommendations to clients and project stakeholders.

Review technical analyses and mentor less-experienced engineers.

What You'll Bring

Demonstrated hands-on experience developing and analyzing power system models using PSCAD.

Experience with electrical power systems serving data centers.

Proficiency with SKM and/or ETAP.

Typically 5+ years of power systems engineering and study experience.

Experience independently executing complex power system studies and developing technically sound recommendations.

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering field.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Professional Engineer (PE) license.

Experience with medium-voltage electrical distribution systems.

Advanced transient analysis, protection system design, or technical study leadership experience.

Why Critical Facility Group

We're a growing team of engineers and project leaders focused on data centers and mission-critical facilities. At CFG, you'll work on studies that directly influence how critical power systems are designed, protected, and operated.

You'll have meaningful ownership of your technical work, opportunities to solve challenging engineering problems, and the chance to collaborate with engineers who care about getting it right.

Compensation & Benefits
The pay range for this role is listed above. Final compensation is based on experience, licensure, and location. CFG offers:

  • Medical insurance
  • $1,500 annual HSA contribution with the high-deductible plan
  • 401(k) with a 100% match up to 5% of compensation
  • 11 paid company holidays plus paid time off
  • $75/month cell phone reimbursement and $50/month health reimbursement
  • Eligible for bonuses

Work Authorization
Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States. CFG is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas. This role is open to candidates residing in states where CFG is registered to employ.
