Job summary

Asana is seeking a Senior Platform Reliability Engineer to own reliability as a first-class concern, building foundational systems that protect the platform at scale. You’ll implement load shedding, traffic controls, and circuit breakers, working with Go, Python, Scala, and TypeScript.

The role emphasizes deep collaboration with infrastructure teams and a new Platform Reliability Engineering team. Office-based hybrid schedule in Warsaw, with flexible work arrangements where possible.

Qualifications

• 7+ years building and operating backend systems at scale.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals with production code experience.
• Familiar with distributed systems patterns: backpressure, degradation, capacity planning.
• Experience with major cloud platforms and infrastructure tooling.

Responsibilities

• Design and build core platform systems (load shedding, rate limiting, circuit breakers) for large-scale protection.
• Own ingress/egress traffic shaping and reliability across platforms.
• Define stable interfaces and libraries for platform teams.
• Lead end-to-end projects from scoping to rollout across multiple teams.
• Embed reliability into architecture as a core constraint; collaborate with infra teams.
• Debug complex stack issues and mentor others; share knowledge through code reviews.
