Job summary

ambiscale is seeking an independent PHP Engineer to work on varied client projects. The role emphasizes turning briefs into questions, making sensible technical choices, and delivering high-quality solutions with attention to performance, security, and accessibility.

Expect to engage with clients, project managers, and cross-functional teams, shaping architecture and tooling while leveraging AI to accelerate delivery without compromising quality.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial backend/PHP experience.
• Strong PHP (8.2+) and Symfony expertise.
• Solid software architecture knowledge (SOLID, patterns, Clean Architecture, and the basics of DDD/CQRS).
• Experience with caching, queues, asynchronous processing, and message brokers.
• Proficiency in tests, static analysis, code review, Git, and CI/CD.
• Experience building secure RESTful or GraphQL APIs and solving performance issues.
• Confidence using AI in daily work, with critical evaluation.
• Ability to estimate work, name assumptions and risks, and ask for missing information.
• Excellent communication in English and Polish (at least B2).

Responsibilities

• Build and scale enterprise web apps and API-first architectures.
• Clarify briefs, ask business and technical questions.
• Break projects into modules, choose technologies, and prepare estimates.
• Ensure performance, security, accessibility, tests and code quality.
• Profile and optimize apps, and integrate external systems and APIs.
• Collaborate with clients, PMs, FE developers, DevOps and QA.
• Share ideas and help improve architecture, tools, and workflow.
