Job summary

Capgemini Polska is seeking a Senior Kubernetes Platform Engineer to maintain production Kubernetes environments, lead Day-2 operations, and drive incident response. You will ensure service resilience through monitoring, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.

The role emphasizes patching, node maintenance, and cross-functional collaboration with Linux, network, storage, virtualization, and application teams. Hybrid work model offered.

Responsibilities

• Own incident intake, triage, and alert handling across platforms (Icinga, Checkmk, Grafana)
• Lead first-line incident response: validation, troubleshooting, evidence collection, escalation
• Diagnose cluster and node issues using K9s, Kibana, logs, and monitoring tools
• Build evidence packs and collaborate with virtualization, network, storage, Linux, and app teams
• Oversee weekly patching and health validation after patches
• Manage Kubernetes node lifecycle: cordon/uncordon, readiness checks
• Resolve storage, filesystem, and node health issues
• Maintain incident runbooks and operational checklists

Your role

As a Senior Kubernetes Platform Engineer, you will play a key role in maintaining the stability, reliability, and operational health of production Kubernetes environments. Acting as the primary Day-2 operator, you will lead incident response, oversee patching and node maintenance activities, and ensure services remain resilient through proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and continuous operational improvements.

Your tasks

• Own incident intake, monitoring triage, and alert handling across platforms such as Icinga, Checkmk, Grafana, and other operational tools.
• Execute first-line incident response activities, including validation, troubleshooting, evidence collection, and escalation management.
• Diagnose cluster and node issues using tools such as K9s, Kibana, SSH, logs, events, and monitoring platforms.
• Build evidence packs and collaborate with virtualization, network, storage, Linux, and application teams to resolve complex issues.
• Supervise weekly patching activities and perform post-patch health validation and service verification.
• Manage Kubernetes node lifecycle activities, including cordon/uncordon operations, readiness validation, and service checks.
• Resolve recurring infrastructure issues related to storage, filesystems, disk utilization, and node health.
• Maintain and improve incident runbooks, operational procedures, troubleshooting guides, and maintenance validation checklists.

Your profile

• Extensive experience as a Kubernetes, SRE, Platform, or Operations Engineer with strong Linux administration and debugging skills.
• Strong hands-on expertise in Kubernetes operations, including node maintenance, patching activities, and production support.
• Experience working with monitoring, logging, observability, and incident management tools in mission-critical environments.
• Ability to investigate complex incidents, analyze operational signals, and distinguish transient warnings from genuine service outages.
• Knowledge of troubleshooting across infrastructure layers, including Linux, networking, storage, virtualization, and platform services.
• Experience making operational risk-based decisions during maintenance windows and production incidents.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills when working with cross-functional technical teams and stakeholders.
• Background in DevOps, Platform Engineering, Cloud technologies, and participation in on-call support for critical incidents.
