Job summary

GlobalLogic, a Hitachi Group Company, seeks an experienced Backend Engineer to design and implement secure, scalable C#/.NET 8 services in a hybrid monolith/microservices setup. You will optimize data access with EF Core and SQL Server, build RESTful APIs, and work across Azure-based deployments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial software engineering experience with backend focus on C#/.NET 8
• Experience in hybrid monolithic and microservices architecture
• Design, build, and optimize RESTful APIs
• Deep data modeling with EF Core and SQL Server/Azure SQL
• Exposure to event-driven systems (Azure Service Bus, Kafka, RabbitMQ)
• Experience in regulated or mission-critical environments
• Excellent written and spoken English in a multinational Agile team

Responsibilities

• About the Company: Our customer is an internationally active, rapidly growing telecommunications and IT services company. As the European market leader in the prison sector, they has been developing, installing, and operating secure communication and media systems for over 25 years, making an essential contribution to resocialization in correctional facilities globally.
• Product Ecosystem: You will contribute to the development of a secure, high-availability digital communication portal designed for regulated environments. This portal enables secure communication services-including the sending of digital letters, voice messages, and photos - and integrates into broader ecosystem of security control systems, billing/financial modules, and access control devices (such as set-top boxes, kiosks, and tablets).
• Engineering Environment: The development team is executing a high-ambition engineering transformation, modernizing legacy systems into a modern C#/.NET 8 microservices ecosystem. The backend combines a .NET 8 monolith with microservices backed by SQL Server and hosted in hybrid cloud (Azure) environments.

Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 5+ years of commercial software engineering experience, with a primary focus on backend development using C# and ASP.NET Core / .NET 8.
• Architectural Balance: Proven experience working within hybrid architectures that combine a monolithic .NET backend with a distributed microservices architecture.
• API & Integration: Proven expertise in designing, building, and optimizing scalable, secure RESTful APIs.
• Data Access: Deep expertise in data modeling, database design, and query optimization using Entity Framework Core (EF Core) and SQL Server / Azure SQL Database.
• Ecosystem & Messaging: Exposure to event-driven systems and distributed messaging (such as Azure Service Bus, Kafka, or RabbitMQ).
• Regulated Environments: Experience working on secure, high-availability platforms with strict regulatory or mission-critical requirements.
• Communication & Collaboration: Excellent written and spoken English skills, with a collaborative engineering mindset for cross-team alignment in a multinational Agile environment.

Job responsibilities

• Backend & Microservices Engineering: Design, implement, and maintain highly reliable, secure, and scalable backend services using C# and .NET 8 across both monolithic and microservices layers.
• API Optimization: Develop and tune high-performance REST APIs specifically optimized to be consumed by modern client interfaces like Blazor WebAssembly web frontends.
• Database Management: Develop and maintain robust data models and write optimized queries with Entity Framework Core and SQL Server.
• Cloud Deployment & Monitoring: Deploy, monitor, and ensure the reliability of backend services hosted on Azure Cloud (such as Azure App Services and Azure SQL Database).
• Architecture & Quality: Actively participate in architectural discussions, contributing to system scalability, performance improvements, and domain-driven design (DDD) best practices.
• Collaboration: Cooperate closely with cross-functional distributed teams (including full-stack developers, frontend Blazor engineers, QA, DevOps, and Product).
