3Pillar Global, Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for a remote contractor role. You will work on an existing Ionic app, focusing on performance, stability, and WebView-to-native integration.

You will lead debugging, profiling, and optimization efforts across iOS and Android platforms, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver robust solutions.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in one specified technology and production Ionic experience.
• Proficiency with Capacitor, Angular/React/Vue, and TypeScript.
• Native iOS (Swift/Obj-C) and Android (Kotlin/Java) build and release knowledge.
• Mobile performance profiling and debugging with standard tools.
• Experience with crash reporting tools (Sentry, Firebase Crashlytics).
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and fluent English.

Responsibilities

Senior Software Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Craft client code that is not just efficient but also performant, testable, scalable, secure, and of the highest quality.
• Diagnose and resolve mobile performance issues - startup time, memory leaks, UI jank/frame drops, and WebView rendering bottlenecks - on an existing production Ionic app.
• Triage and stabilize an existing codebase: identify root causes of crashes and instability, not just symptoms, and ship durable fixes.
• Debug and optimize the WebView-to-native bridge, a common source of performance issues specific to Ionic/Capacitor apps.
• Provide accurate status tracking, reporting, and estimation using project methods and tools.
• Gather requirements, validate their understanding amongst the team, and create and maintain relevant documentation.
• Execute activities within the current methodology and uphold the highest quality standards.
• Foster collaboration with fellow engineers, designers, and managers to comprehend user pain points and iterate on solutions that drive client success.
• Take ownership of projects, from technical design to a successful launch.

Minimum Qualifications

• Demonstrated expertise with at least 3+ years of experience in one specified technology.
• Ionic Framework, 3+ years of production experience.
• Ionic Framework and key related technologies (Capacitor, Angular/React/Vue, TypeScript).
• Native platform fluency for both iOS (Xcode, Swift/Objective-C interop) and Android (Android Studio, Kotlin/Java interop), including native build and app store release processes.
• Hands-on experience with mobile performance profiling and debugging tools: Xcode Instruments, Android Profiler, and Chrome DevTools remote debugging for WebViews.
• Experience with crash reporting and diagnostics tools (Sentry, Firebase Crashlytics, or similar).
• Prior experience on a performance/stabilization engagement for an existing production app - debugging and improving an unfamiliar codebase under time pressure, rather than building net-new features.
• Experience in engineering software systems of medium-to-large scope and complexity.
• Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies.
• Proficiency in the English language.

Additional Experience Desired

• Knowledge of source control tools.
• Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Proficiency in Object-Oriented Programming (inheritance, polymorphism, classes, instances, properties).
• Knowledge of protocols like HTTP, and serialization formats like JSON and XML.
• Bundle size optimization, lazy loading, and asset optimization for mobile.
• Experience with native plugin development/debugging via Capacitor or Cordova plugins (Cordova experience a plus for legacy apps).
• Experience with Unit testing (Jasmine/Karma/Jest) and E2E testing (Cypress, Appium).
