Job summary

Corning Inc. is seeking a creative Mechanical/Mechatronics engineer to participate in the design and adaptation of innovative products for international teams.

The role focuses on collaborating with development engineers to bring new ideas to production, while enhancing machinery and equipment for manufacturing processes. You will contribute to prototyping, apply FEM analysis, and support cross-functional communication.

Qualifications

• Higher education in Mechanics/Mechatronics or related field.
• Experience with 3D CAD in mechanical design.
• Knowledge of mechanics, strength of materials and FEM analysis.
• Familiarity with GD&T and sheet metal forming is a plus.
• Proficiency in English for fluent communication.

Responsibilities

• Participate in design of new products and adaptation of existing products.
• Collaborate with development and product engineers to implement products into production.
• Design machinery and equipment supporting production processes.
• Implement modern design solutions and AR capabilities to support communication.
• Develop prototypes and present ideas, contribute to projects.

Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role Purpose

• Participation in the design of new products and adaptation of existing products in international design groups.
• Close collaboration with development engineers and product engineers to implement new products into the production process.
• Participation in the design of machinery and equipment supporting the production process.
• Implementation of modern solutions (Capabilities - e.g.: Augmented Reality) supporting design processes and communication with external and internal clients.
• Realization and presentation of your own ideas.
• Development of prototypes.
• Supporting other departments in project collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

• Higher education, preferred education fields: Mechanics and Machine Construction, Mechatronics, or related.
• Knowledge of one of the leading 3D CAD environments (PTC CREO Parametric, Solid Works, Inventor or similar).
• Understanding of technical documentation principles.
• Knowledge of mechanics, strength of materials and FEM analysis.
• Knowledge of machine design.
• Knowledge of precision mechanics will be an additional asset.
• Knowledge of GD&T methodology will be an additional asset.
• Knowledge of sheet metal forming and plastic injection processes.
• Knowledge of 3D printing processes.
• Analytical skills.
• Proficiency in English for fluent communication both spoken and written.
• Communicativeness, diligence, commitment, and high personal culture.
• 3 years of experience in a position with a similar scope of responsibilities
