Job summary

Senior Machine Learning Engineer | Fintech | AI/ML & MLOps

I’m currently supporting a leading FTSE 100 fintech in hiring a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join its expanding AI/ML function.

The opportunity

This is an opportunity to work on production-grade AI/ML solutions at significant scale, within a complex, data-intensive financial environment.

You’ll sit at the intersection of machine learning and software engineering, working closely with ML specialists and engineers to take ideas from research and experimentation through to robust, scalable production systems.

The role offers genuine technical scope across the full ML engineering lifecycle, including:

• Designing and building scalable AI/ML solutions and supporting infrastructure
• Taking ML models and ideas from concept through to production deployment
• Building and improving ML pipelines, orchestration and deployment processes
• Developing and maintaining existing ML products and platforms
• Improving the scalability, reliability and performance of ML systems
• Contributing to the organisation’s wider MLOps and AI/ML engineering practices
• Acting as an AI/ML subject matter expert, supporting teams across the business
• Taking technical ownership of projects and leading initiatives where required

You’ll have the opportunity to work on genuinely complex engineering problems, influence how ML capabilities are built and deployed, and see your work applied within a large-scale fintech environment rather than remaining at the research or proof-of-concept stage.

What you’ll bring

We’re looking for a Senior Machine Learning Engineer with strong software engineering fundamentals and hands-on experience building and operating ML solutions in production.

Key experience includes:

• Solid AI/ML expertise and knowledge of modern ML techniques
• Experience taking ML solutions into production
• Practical understanding of MLOps, including deployment, versioning, monitoring and model lifecycle management
• ML orchestration tools such as Kubeflow, Airflow or Prefect
• Docker / containerisation
• CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation
• Terraform
• Cloud and/or on-premise environments, ideally GCP, AWS or Azure
• ML and data libraries such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, NumPy and Pandas
• Strong understanding of databases and data-intensive systems

Experience with technologies such as Pydantic or LangChain would also be valuable.
