Tenarai Europe is seeking a senior Java engineer to own and evolve a large, distributed Java platform serving airlines worldwide. You will work on deep component ownership, against a broader containerization initiative, alongside a rewrite that changes system parts rather than simple repackaging.

Expect core Java 11+, Spring, microservices, REST/SOAP APIs, GCP, SQL, and JUnit expertise. Hybrid Kraków-based role with strong focus on quality and scalable design.

Job description

What this role actually is:

A large, highly distributed Java platform serving airlines worldwide is being containerized and moved onto Google Kubernetes Engine. You would not be on the migration crew, and that is the deliberate part worth understanding before you scroll past.

Our client is hiring senior application engineers precisely so their own subject matter experts can be freed up for the containerization work without the product standing still. You take on the platform's ongoing engineering. In practice that means you go deep into a mature product rather than shallow across a migration, and you do it next to a rewrite that is genuinely redesigning parts of the system rather than repackaging them. When the migration reaches the components you own, you are the person who knows them.

What you would work with:

• Java 11, Tomcat, Oracle
• Messaging and integration: JMS with XML messages, web services over SOAP and JSON, some RMI on its way out, plus MQ, Pub/Sub and Kafka
• A platform that is extensible by its own users: they build and deploy their own use cases on it through a Java SDK, with plugins, business rules and data domain extensions, alongside a no code business process designer
• PII data. No PCI in scope.

What we need from you:

Our client stated explicitly that there is no nice to have tier here. Every line is a requirement, and you will be asked to demonstrate each one in the technical interview.
