Job summary

Luxoft Poland in Krakow is seeking a senior Java developer to join our client's investment banking team to build scalable back-end services.

You will work with Spring Boot, Hibernate, and SQL on Oracle or PostgreSQL, in a hybrid setting with 3 days in the office. You will participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to high-quality, business-aligned solutions.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional Java development experience.
• Strong hands-on Spring Boot and microservices experience.
• RESTful API design experience.
• Hands-on SQL with PostgreSQL or Oracle and performance tuning.

Project Description:

We are looking for a senior Java developer to join our client's team and contribute to the development of modern, scalable back-end services. You'll be part of a collaborative team focused on clean code, agile methodologies, and delivering high-quality solutions. The client is from the investment banking industry.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable back-end services and APIs using Java, Spring Boot, and Spring
• Implement data access using Hibernate and SQL, with attention to performance and maintainability
• Analyze and tune SQL queries and database performance on Oracle (preferred) or PostgreSQL
• Define and consume RESTful APIs, clearly communicating requirements and constraints across teams
• Translate business and product requirements into robust technical solutions
• Apply clean code principles and back-end best practices across the codebase
• Write and maintain automated tests (unit, integration)
• Participate actively in agile ceremonies (Scrum/Kanban), including refinement, planning, reviews, and retrospectives
• Perform code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of engineering standards and tooling
• Work closely with QA, product managers, and architects to ensure high-quality, business-aligned deliveries
• Support and improve existing applications in a fast-paced, enterprise investment-banking environment

Mandatory Skills Description:

• At least 10 years of professional experience as a Java developer, including long-term projects
• Strong hands-on experience with Spring Boot and building microservices
• Experience in RESTful API design
• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL or Oracle, including strong SQL skills and query and performance tuning
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience with Microsoft Azure
• Good working knowledge of Unix/Linux, including shell and command-line tools
• Experience in automated testing of Java applications
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Familiarity with agile practices (Scrum, Kanban, etc.)
• Good communication skills and the ability to state requirements clearly to other teams
