Job summary

Mastercard is seeking a Lead Software Engineer (Java/Kotlin) within Mastercard Open Finance Europe to design and build scalable backend services and APIs for a global audience, collaborating with product, security, and operations teams to deliver reliable digital financial solutions. You will mentor engineers, drive architectural decisions, and champion quality through reviews, tests, and automation.

Qualifications

Strong Java or Kotlin skills with SpringBoot.
Architecting complex web applications with lead engineer experience.
Designing scalable, high-performance backend systems.
Hands-on coding, code reviews and mentoring.
Experience delivering cloud-native apps (PCF or similar).
Agile work with global teams.
Experience designing secure APIs.

Responsibilities

Design and develop technical solutions for global customers (internal and external).
Iterate features for the evolving API Platform from idea to delivery.
Contribute to Mastercard Open Source projects for API libraries.
Ensure automation in build, deploy, configure, validate, and monitor processes.
Liaise with global tech, data and operations teams to execute.
Act as SME for API Platform and services to support integrations.
