Job summary

Akamai's Server Hardware Engineering team in Krakow is seeking a Senior Hardware Engineer to define architecture and lead design reviews across electrical, mechanical, and firmware domains. You will partner with vendors to guide products, validate hardware lifecycles, and drive post-deployment feedback into design.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, hands-on experience across the hardware development lifecycle, and strong Linux and Python skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience across the full hardware development lifecycle, including pre-production evaluation, mass-production validation, and leading comprehensive validation strategies.
• Proficiency with server hardware components (Disk, RAM, NIC, GPU) and related protocols (CompTIA Server+ level).
• Experience operating lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, thermal chambers, and networking devices; diagnostic analysis.
• 3+ years of programming experience in Python and embedded software development.
• Strong Linux OS expertise and reliability engineering fundamentals.
• Ability to present technical strategy and engage with stakeholders effectively.
• Hybrid work: 3 days on-site per week in Krakow.

As a Hardware Engineer, you will develop, validate, manage lifecycles, and document Akamai's Server Hardware Platforms for a growing network. Collaborating with vendors, you will evaluate pre-release hardware and provide input on future product designs. Join a team designing servers and developing firmware for a platform with over 300,000 servers across 130 countries.

As a Senior Hardware Engineer, you will be responsible for:

• Defining and review architecture for next-generation platforms.
• Leading design reviews across electrical, mechanical, and firmware domains.
• Negotiating requirements and trade-offs with product and business team
• Anticipating system-level challenges (thermal, signal integrity, compliance) and propose solutions.
• Overseeing multi-vendor engagements and align with roadmap goals.
• Managing hardware failure escalations and coordinate resolutions with OEM/ODM suppliers for deployed systems
• Driving post-deployment analysis and feedback loops into design.

• Develop advanced test frameworks and embedded software while supporting hardwaresoftware integration with over three programming experience in Python.
• Demonstrate expertise with Linux operating systems while understanding core principles of reliability engineering.
• Demonstrate expertise in shaping business outcomes through effective technical strategy, with the ability to present and engage with stakeholders effectively.
• Be open for hybrid work (3 days on-site a week) in Cracow
