Job summary

Eaton Group in Poland is seeking a Senior Electronic Engineer (PBC Design) to join the eMobility Engineering team. The role, based in Tczew or Bonn, involves hardware design, IPC/PCB work, and collaboration with global teams to deliver reliable EV electronics.

You will work across the full product lifecycle from concept to production, applying FuSa practices, ISO 26262, and EMC/EMI considerations while coordinating with software, manufacturing, and customers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or related field.
  • Several years of professional experience in development of electronic products and drive systems in automotive industry.
  • Basic understanding of automotive systems and components.
  • Experience in PCBA design and knowledge of final product testing.
  • Experience with root cause analysis and continuous improvement methodologies, EMI/EMC design for compliance, ISO 26262 Functional Safety.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate production failures, non-conformances, and customer-reported issues with root-cause analyses and corrective actions.
  • Develop new switching device concepts for EV applications.
  • Design hardware considering interconnected functions and dependencies with other components.
  • Translate requirements into electronic system solutions; maintain hardware architectures.
  • Support software teams in hardware-software interfaces.
  • Perform FuSa tasks and contribute to FMEDA and FTA analyses; prepare Safety Manuals.
  • Design PCB layouts and hardware units per EMC standards; develop test plans and actions.
  • Develop hardware to meet Automotive Safety Integrity Levels per ISO 26262.
  • Define system requirements and own elements in V-Model development process.
  • Support NPI and product transfers from design to manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with NPI and Project Engineering teams for manufacturability and readiness.
  • Support pilot builds, product validation, process qualification, and ramp-up activities.

Currently we are seeking Senior Electronic Engineer (PBC Design)

The position is part of the eMobility Engineering department in Poland and can be based in Tczew, Poland, or Bonn, Germany. The Electronics Engineer will collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Marketing, and customers to develop product designs, resolve technical issues, and provide guidance on product performance and operation. Success in this role requires a strong technical foundation, attention to detail, and effective teamwork. The Electronics Engineer works closely with experienced engineers, technicians, and global engineering teams to deliver accurate, reliable designs and support. The role covers all stages of the product development lifecycle—from concept to series production as part of a global, dynamic, multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilties:
  • Investigate production failures, non-conformances, and customer-reported issues, conducting root cause analyses and implementing corrective actions. Evaluate and implement engineering changes, ensuring proper documentation and a smooth transition into production.
  • Develop new switching device concepts for use in electric vehicle (EV) applications.
  • Design hardware while considering a wide range of interconnected functions and existing dependencies with other electrical and electromechanical product components.
  • Translate external and internal requirements (e.g., technical specifications) into electronic system solutions consisting of multiple units and assemblies. Create and maintain hardware architectures for electronic assemblies and modules.
  • Support software development teams in defining hardware-software interfaces.
  • Perform Functional Safety (FuSa) tasks, contribute to FMEDA and FTA analyses, and prepare Safety Manuals.
  • Design PCB layouts and hardware units in compliance with relevant EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) standards. Develop EMC and EE test plans and implement required corrective actions in the event of test failures.
  • Develop hardware solutions to achieve the required Automotive Safety Integrity Levels (ASIL) in accordance with ISO 26262.
  • Define system requirements and take ownership of related elements throughout the entire V-Model development process in compliance with ISO 26262.
  • Support new product introductions (NPI) and product transfers from design to manufacturing.
  • Partner with the New Product Introduction (NPI) and Project Engineering teams during product development and launch phases to ensure manufacturability and production readiness.
  • Support pilot builds, product validation, process qualification, and production ramp-up activities for new projects.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
  • Several years of professional experience in the development of electronic products and drive systems within the automotive industry.
  • Basic understanding of automotive systems and components.
  • Experience in PCBA design and knowledge of final product testing.
  • Experience with root cause analysis and continuous improvement methodologies, as well as electronics design for EMI/EMC compliance.
  • Knowledge of Functional Safety in accordance with ISO 26262.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Good command of English; German language skills are an advantage.
