Job summary

Commit is seeking a Principal DevOps Engineer to design and build the AWS infrastructure and delivery platform for a new gaming platform. The role is hands-on, setting cloud foundations, account structure, networking, Kubernetes platform, CI/CD, and observability.

You will enable scale to sportsbook peak traffic with uptime guarantees and regulatory compliance, mentoring teams while shaping standards for how software runs in production.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in DevOps/platform/infrastructure engineering.
• 3+ years at staff/principal level with organization-wide influence.
• Deep hands-on AWS: EKS, EC2, RDS/Aurora, networking (VPC, Transit Gateway, Route 53), IAM at scale.
• Expert-level infrastructure as code with Terraform.
• Strong Kubernetes day-2 operations and cost management.
• Track record building CI/CD and developer platforms teams.
• Observability and SLO/error-budget practice (Prometheus/Grafana, OpenTelemetry, CloudWatch).
• Experience operating high-availability, high-throughput production systems with real traffic spikes.
• Excellent written and spoken English; communicates platform decisions clearly to engineers and executives.

Responsibilities

• Design the AWS foundation from scratch for multi-account architecture.
• Build and operate the container platform with EKS and service mesh.
• Define everything as code using Terraform and GitOps pipelines.
• Establish observability stack with metrics/logging/tracing.
• Own production readiness including incident response and runbooks.
• Migrate from current third-party platform with dual-running environments.
• Embed compliance and regulator audit controls by construction.
• Partner with AI coding platform team to integrate AI tooling.
• Mentor engineers and set org-wide cloud standards.
