Job summary

Darwin Recruitment is seeking a Senior Databricks Engineer for a 6-month freelance engagement. This role is fully remote, supporting a European retail/e-commerce client, building and maintaining production data pipelines on Databricks and implementing a bronze-silver-gold lakehouse pattern using dbt.

The candidate will design semantic models, ensure reusable metrics for dashboards, and operate as an hands-on contributor delivering end-to-end data transformations in a remote EU context.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on Databricks experience, building/maintaining production data pipelines.
• dbt across multiple projects with production-quality models, tests, and docs.
• Experience implementing bronze-silver-gold lakehouse patterns and semantic models.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain end-to-end data pipelines in Databricks for production workloads.
• Define reusable semantic models and metrics for dashboards and downstream pipelines.
• Implement and document medallion lakehouse architecture and dbt transformations.
• Deliver as a hands-on individual contributor, not in architecture ownership.
