Job summary

zooplus SE is seeking a Senior Data Scientist specializing in linear and mixed integer optimization. You will design and implement models, run simulations, and deliver data-driven insights to engineering, product, and operations teams.

The role requires strong programming and SQL skills, plus experience with forecasting and relational databases. Based in a multinational setting with hybrid work, the team collaborates across Munich, Madrid, Krakow, and more.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience solving linear optimization and mixed-integer problems.
• 2+ years with commercial solvers (preferably Gurobi) for building and solving optimization models.
• Solid knowledge of advanced mathematical modeling techniques and simulations.
• Proficiency in Python and scientific computing libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, SciPy.
• Knowledge of relational databases and SQL queries; practical SQL experience.
• Strong communication skills; ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Forecasting algorithms experience is a plus; willingness to learn is valued.
• Team player with a can-do attitude; proactive in learning new skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain linear optimization and mixed integer models and integrate them in production.
• Analyze data, run simulations, and present actionable insights to stakeholders across engineering, product, and operations.
• Contribute to the full SDLC from ideation to deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
• Ensure quality and performance through testing, validation, and production monitoring.
