Job summary

BlackLine SP ZOO (Poland) seeks a Senior Database/Data Engineer to design, build, and optimize large-scale data pipelines and robust data storage solutions. You will collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and engineers to meet data requirements while ensuring governance, security, and quality across our platforms.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering, with a strong focus on building and maintaining data pipelines.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.
  • Extensive experience with SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, Snowflake, MongoDB, Cassandra).
  • Demonstrated experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and their data services (e.g., S3, EC2, Redshift, Glue, Data Factory).
  • Experience with big data technologies such as Spark, Hadoop, or Kafka.
  • Familiarity with data warehousing concepts, ETL/ELT methodologies, and data modeling.
  • Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, and data security principles.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain data warehouses, data lakes, and other data storage solutions.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and software engineers to understand data requirements and deliver appropriate data solutions.

  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve data-related issues and performance bottlenecks.
  • Evaluate and recommend new data technologies and tools to improve efficiency and scalability.
  • Mentor junior data engineers and contribute to the growth of the data engineering team.
  • Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and contribute to architectural decisions.
