Job summary
BEC is seeking a senior Cobol software engineer to maintain and develop Payments platforms in a cross-border setting (Warsaw and Roskilde). You will own delivery for critical systems, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with product, QA and architecture teams across Poland and Denmark.
The role emphasizes strong legacy tech skills (Cobol/CICS/IDz) plus modern tooling, and requires English fluency to coordinate with colleagues in two countries.
Qualifications
- University degree in IT, computer science or related discipline.
- Proven ability to take ownership of senior software engineering tasks and mentor others.
- Fluency in written and spoken English for collaboration across teams.
Responsibilities
- Collaborating closely with software engineers, the product owner, business analyst and team architect.
- Managing the daily operation and governance of systems.
- Carrying out testing, technical design and analysis of user stories and defects.
- Supporting testing through troubleshooting and defect resolution.
- Refining new user stories and assessing their technical feasibility and design.
