Job summary

EasySoftGroup is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to modernize a PHP-based backend while scaling services in a distributed team. You will work across a monolith and modular components, shaping API design, performance, and reliability.

You will contribute to REST/GraphQL APIs, Lambda-based deployments, and automated testing in a remote-first setting, collaborating with Product and Platform teams to drive architectural decisions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional backend engineering experience.
• Expert-level PHP experience including production systems.
• Strong hands-on Node.js experience.
• Experience refactoring monolithic architectures into modular services.
• Strong knowledge of backend architecture and API design (REST/GraphQL).
• Hands-on AWS experience (Lambda/serverless).
• Experience writing testable code with automated tests.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools (Copilot/ChatGPT/Claude/ Cursor).
• Strong written and spoken English.
• Proactive, self-directed, remote-work capable.

Responsibilities

• Deeply understand an existing PHP monolithic codebase and extract functionality into modular, service-oriented components.
• Design, build, and maintain scalable, testable backend services using PHP and Node.js.
• Develop robust RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
• Lead and contribute to refactoring for performance and maintainability.
• Build, deploy, and operate backend services on AWS (Lambda, API Gateway).
• Write and maintain unit and integration tests across releases.
• Review and refine AI-generated code using critical thinking.
• Identify technical risks and bottlenecks and propose improvements.
• Communicate technical decisions through documentation and short video walkthroughs.
• Collaborate in a remote, async-first, cross-timezone environment.
